chapter two - part four Glenfiddich, Balvenie , Glenfarclas

Twee Glen's op de menu.

Als eerste de grote Glenfiddich.
Deze , op massatoerisme berekende, destillerij voldeed aan de verwachting.
Dit wil zeggen, niets speciaal. Je wordt door de tour geloodst en krijgt op het einde de standaards te proeven. Op de tour die wij deden kregen we gelukkig ook de 21y te proeven.

First the verry famous Glenfiddich.
This distillery, ready for mass tourism, was exactly as we thought.
Nothing special! They pushed us trough the tour and gave us the classic drams at the end.
Luckely, on our tour we got to taste the 21y also.

Na dit (mindere) bezoekje hadden we wel weer nood aan wat cultuur.
Balvenie Castle , here we come!
Dit kasteel (ruine) uit de 13de eeuw was het bolwerk van de grootste tegenstander van King Robert the Bruce. en wordt op dit moment deels gerestaureerd.

After this (lesser) visit we needed some more culture.
Balvenie Castle, here we come!
This castle (ruin) from the 13th century was the key-point in the resistance against king Robert the Bruce.
At this time it is partly under reconstruction.

Nu is het tijd voor het hoogtepunt van de dag.
De "connoisseur tour" bij Glenfarclas.
Dit was een tour om U tegen te zeggen! Met een tasting nadien die startte bij de 21y om te eindigen bij een "family cask 1957". Beat this!

Now e are ready for the highlight of the day, the " connoisseur tour"  at Glenfarclas.
This extra-ordinairy tour ended with a tasting starting with the 21y end ending with a "family cask 1957".
